Mengi Yachia
Amature artist born in Istanbul, Türkiye who lives in Israel since 1972.
She has began her artistic journey at the University of Istanbul’s Center of Turkısh Decoratıve Arts workshop of Prof Suheyl Unver and Azade Akar in Istanbul by learning the ancient ornamental arts of the Ottomans. After emigrating to Israel, she has used the motifs of the ornamental arts on cloisonné enamel pictures and kettubahs together with her husband Daniel. With their cloisonné creations they participated in a number of group exhibitions in Israel, Europe and Japan.
Since the late 80s Mengi’s art has evolved from the very precise graphic designs and cloisonné enamels to abstracts by moving to oil and acrylic paintings.
She has taken part in the Atelier of Victor Lalush for over 20 years where she has developed further skills in the oil and acrylic paintings.
Since 2023 Mengi has started working with gouaches and watercolors. She is actively participating in the workshop of Gustavo Bar at TAO Cultural center in Herzlia.
Mengi is married to Prof. Dr. Daniel Yachia. Together with Dani, they are grandparents and great grandparents.
